    Takeout-Inspired Garlic-Ginger Chicken

    Takeout-Inspired Garlic-Ginger Chicken

Sometimes you just have a hankering for Chinese takeout. Garlicky, ginger chicken, fluffy white rice, and maybe some steamed veggies on the side sounds delicious, right? But, restaurants tend to add flavor enhancers, such as MSG, and lots and lots of sodium to their dishes. You can easily make homemade, takeout-inspired dishes at home, in about 30 minutes or less.

There are a few staple ingredient you should have on hand, or you may even already have in your pantry and fridge. Here they are, not necessarily in any specific order:

    • Ginger
    • Garlic
    • Soy Sauce
    • Rice Wine Vinegar
    • Honey
    • Soy Sauce

If you have these ingredients on hand, you will be able to turn any protein – such as chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu, etc…into a delicious, Asian-inspired dish. Corn starch, though it does not add flavor, adds the viscous, silky, sauce-texture you know and love in Asian dishes. There are a few other ingredients you could add to change up the flavor, like Sriracha, cilantro, lemongrass, peanuts, fish sauce, and/or chilies. However, the simple ingredients listed above will create the perfect “takeout-inspired” flavor base.
